North Lake Tahoe might incorporate

Moonshine Ink has finally reported on the meeting held at Granlibakken on February 28th at which the Eastern Placer Future concept was revealed to the public. The article is worth reading. At the meeting the idea of incorporating the Northshore was presented, along with details of the many steps required before the issue could be put on the ballot for voters to decide. The financial feasibility of the proposed municipality is key. The presenters pointed out that the Northshore's revenue per capita is well above that of South Lake Tahoe. But they cautioned that current state rules which govern the process of forming a new municipality will require negotiating a divorce settlement with Placer County.

California (un)Incorporated applauds the efforts that have gone in to the proposal for local control at the Northshore. While we stand ready in support, we are nevertheless discouraged that the process of forming a new municipality remains needlessly cumbersome and costly. To its credit, Eastern Placer Future has an innovative Go Fund Me campaign that has already garnered support. Still, local people should not have to work so hard to get control of the municipal taxes they pay. Our quest for legislative relief will thus continue.
